If you are 55 or over, a member of Birchwood Park Golf Club and wish to join the seniors, nothing could be easier.
Just email the Seniors Chairman, John Beschizza, who will take your details and of course, check your eligibility. He will give you a brief synopsis of what we are about and will request your lifetimes subscription which includes automatic one off inclusion in our ‘Hole in One’ scheme until the money is won. New members may be required to play in a maximum of three competitions prior to being eligible to win any prizes, but will be required to pay the entry fee. See Senior Committee Arrangements for full details or speak to the chairman John Beschizza for clarification.
Once you have paid, you will be entitled to enter in our weekly competitions and our draw to play in friendly matches against a variety of clubs in Kent; home and away. You may even be selected to play in the NAPGC competitions or be asked to join the Invicta League team. For more details and competition fees, refer to the Senior Committee Arrangement section on this website.
The Invicta League is a premier senior’s competition in Kent, in which we have been extremely successful. In previous years, we have reached the final and for two years we were the champions.
Every Monday morning we field around 60 plus players in our competitions which include fun games as well as the usual stableford and medal matches. These tournaments vary between the white and yellow tees, thus giving the members the full variety of games the course can provide.
From March through to October there is normally, a friendly match against clubs such as Tudor Park, Upchurch and our great rivals Chelsfield Lakes.
We also have a Winter Greensomes, singles, doubles, and the coveted Masters competition. Participation in these events is always well subscribed.
Every Wednesday and Friday and on some Bank holiday Mondays there is an informal seniors swindle competition. Although unofficial, it is organised by the senior members themselves, with six tee times allocated by management starting at 8 am. These events are always well attended and any senior is welcome. Just add your name to the entry sheet on the noticeboard, and you are virtually assured of a game. For more information please refer to the Senior Swindle page of this website.
We have well over one hundred members in our section, which has steadily increased year on year. At least eighty have played in competition this year. I have been a senior for a good few years now and can honestly say there is not a better run club, a better supported seniors section and a nicer bunch of blokes.
